Support to Ukrainian Editors

The invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 has heavily impacted scientific activity and the production of knowledge in this country. The extension of the war zone across the country, and the destruction of civilian infrastructure has not sparedhigher education and research facilities. The Kharkiv University building was hit by a missile in the first days of the war, and the academic community struggles to continue working.

While, thanks to different programs such as Science for Ukraine, support has been given up to now to Ukrainian researchers in all disciplines, this support is rarely extended to other types of personnel working alongside researchers in knowledge production, such as librarians, editorial staff, technicians and administrative staff at universities, research institutions and infrastructures.

SUES – Supporting Ukrainian Editorial Staff – is an initiative from several European organisations in scholarly communication to meet this additional requirement. This initiative needs your support now:

If you decide to help, you can either make a donation and/or share the project with your network and/or you can donate some of your English-language publications as incentives for those who donate. Please contact the board for more information.

Thank you in advance for supporting this project!

In consequence of last year’s Covid-19 situation, the AEUP board has recently decided that from now on, the annual members meetings will happen online. We should take advantage of the (rare) opportunities to meet in person to really network and discuss current issues and challenges of academic publishing.

Welcome new board member

After few years of good service, the AEUP board was recently renewed. Two of the members who worked actively for a long time towards our common goal resigned from the board. Thank you, Isabella Meinecke and Regine Tobias for your great contribution to AEUP!

The board was strengthened by a new member, Arūnas Gudinavičius, managing director at Vilnius University Press and Associate Professor at the Department of Digital Cultures and Communication, Faculty of Communication, Vilnius University. Welcome aboard, Arūnas!

If you wish to contact Arūnas directly, his email address is arunas.gudinavicius@kf.vu.lt. Otherwise please contact the board at board@aeup.eu.
